ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS

Next week there will be a board meeting at 11:00. Among other items we will be discussing community grants and the fundraiser.

Michelle announced that we will be having our major fundraiser April 26th. It will be a roast of John Laird.  It should be very entertaining.

Our speaker today, Rick Bar, (pictured above with past president Pam Goodman) is the area director for account management from Kaiser Permanente.  He has several advanced degrees including one in international business administration and is on the board of directors of the Aptos Chamber of Commerce.

Kaiser is now moving into the Santa Cruz County area. They are now serving Medicare patients and you can enroll pretty much 12 months of the year. This is the 5 star Medicare plan. Kaiser is a one stop shop. Pharmacy, lab work and radiology are all there in one visit. They have Telehealth on your cell phone and a 24 hour nurse hotline. They offer preventive screening and personalized care and use an electronic health maintenance record.

Rick announced that there will be a new specialty hub in mid-county at 5940 Soquel Ave but for now there are offices in Watsonville, Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz.  In an emergency you can go to any hospital. There are also Kaiser facilities in San Jose, Santa Clara and Redwood City if you need an inpatient hospital.

You do choose your own physician. There are over 50 in this area now and as many as another 50 will be added in the future. For more information go to KP.org /Santa Cruz
